Christmas Party

So, I’m guessing that some of you are wondering what we are going to do for our Christmas partywell I THOUGHT I was going to send home notes Monday to explain everything, but looks like that will not be happening. So, here’s the deal- we are going to draw items from our classroom wish list (just basic items that are needed to keep our fun crafts and everyday activities going). You and your child will wrap that gift in ONE package and label it with your child’s name. Then, on Monday for the Christmas party (weather permitting of course) your child will open it in front of the class and donate it for all of us to use. We did this last year and it worked BEAUTIFULLY! The kids were so thankful and enjoyed donating these awesome gifts for us to use. I have tried to get the gifts to be under 10.00, but sometimes it is hard considering some of the items are little larger than others. So, if you would like to buy more than what you are given- please notify me. I’ll give you another item off our list. Again, I appreciate all that you do for us!!

Snow Snow! Beautiful snow!

LET IT SNOW!

I know that there may be snow, but I am hoping that my friends are at home reading!! I do not know when we’ll return back to school because it looks like there is more snow on the way! However, when we return we will get busy and finish all the fun things that were planned on the calendar. I look forward to seeing you. Since this week is a short week, I am going to review our spelling week and have the test on Monday (next week). Hopefully this will give us more time for successful practice!

Penguins

This past week we talked about penguins! Boy did the kids enjoy this. We learned all about what they eat, their body parts, how they find their mates and penguins babies! Most importantly, we found out how penguins stay warm in the winter. Check out the pictures of all the kids (on the pictures page) but here are a few!

First off, let me apologize because of far behind I am on blogging. SORRY! First off my camera broke (no worries, I have pictures, I just need to figure out how to upload them from my phone). Anyway- we have been VERY busy. I am just going to upload some cut pictures of the things that we did for Thanksgiving and start fresh next week.

A Camping We Will Go!

Grab your hiking gear! Don’t forget your sleeping bag and flashlight on Friday! We will be camping out in our classroom and you will not want to miss out on the fun! If you do not have a sleeping bag, a blanket will work GREAT! We will also be having hot dogs for lunch so there is no need for you to bring a lunch! Don’t forget your hiking boots!

Pumpkin Investigation

Today we explored our pumpkins that we brought in this past week. We talked about their sizes and how they differ. The kids really enjoyed that! Then my assistant and I cut the tops off all the pumpkins and let the kids dig out the seeds. The kids then counted the seeds and investigated their pumpkins. We talked about what they looked like inside and outside, their sizes, and their colors and compared the seeds. Needless to say the kids

LOVED this activity! Check out the slideshow for pictures, but here are some

of the funny ones...

Something New!!

So today you will see some new things inside your child’s notebook and backpack. Here’s a list of items you will find that are new and what you will need to do with them. Enjoy and thank you for helping your child become organized and be prepared!

ü Reading book- Make sure you check your child’s reading assignment every night (except weekends) as they will have a reading assignment each night!

ü Divers Handbook- you will find this inside the homework folder and this is where you will find all reading assignments and page numbers, you will also record all missed words on this page as well. This MUST be signed each night- it is your child’s responsibility to help you remember, therefore if it is not signed I will assume that your child has not completed the assignment and they will be asked to write their name in the bad choices notebook for the day.

ü Spelling Words- you will find these in your child’s notebook. Practice these words each night and make sure your child is prepared for the test on Friday. We will begin with a pre-test on Thursdays and if he/she makes a 100% on the test he/she will not have to take it on Friday. If not, they will have another chance to on Friday.

Check out the spelling words here on the blog!
